Hi, I looked at some of the other load time threads since the recent patch and could not find anything in terms of a solution.
I've recently returned to CK2 after a few years.
I have the following content DLCs: Rajas of India, Sons of Abraham, The Old Gods, Sunset Invasion, The Republic, Sword of Islam, Legacy of Rome
I also have a handful of cosmetic packs that came with those DLCs above.
My system is a laptop running Windows 10 with an Intel i7-4710HQ, 8 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce 840M.
Performance is much improved from when I used to play, only now I run into a different problem that makes the game unplayable after about 900 A.D. if I'm starting from the Viking start date. I can make it to around 1050 A.D. if I'm really patient but it's a slog.
THE PROBLEM
The game takes several minutes to load. It loads all of the assets and then hangs on "Loading Game". How long it hangs is incremental... the longer I play, the longer it takes to load the next time I launch the game.
Before abandoning my latest game, I timed how long it took to load and it took 13 minutes and 20 seconds. That's, needless to say, far too long. Loading to the main menu, in comparison, takes about 40 seconds.
Once in the game, declaring peace in wars also freezes the game for 10-20 seconds at a time.
GAME CONDITIONS
I play with Infinite Demesne enabled. I don't have any mods. All graphics settings are turned off except for terrain and borders.
The one thing that comes to mind that might be causing it is the demesne limit, but that seems unlikely given that it's a base feature of the game and this drastically reduces court sizes and character generation.
However, I'm not an expert.
Is that a known cause of the load time issue or is there something else potentially causing it?
I've cleared out all my saves and I did a clean uninstall/install. I'm going to try again, but as I play the game I'd like to know if there's a way to prevent needing to stop after a couple hundred years.
