Sometimes when the game saves, it crashes, and that save file no longer runs.

Any ideas what is being changed that makes the file unacceptable, or is there a better forum for this?

I run the latest version, and EEP.

This problem very rarely happens under 1.05 although it does - occasionally - on systems that are running at the very edge of processor capability. If the game crashes during a save then it's quite likely that the file would not run if you tried to load it as all the necessary data would not have been saved. An incomplete file would almost certainly not run if you tried to load it.

There are a number of possible causes:

"Stretched" resources - What OS are you running and what are your system specs? In particular, how much RAM do you have and how much free space do you have on your primary drive and (if different) the drive your EU2 is installed on? Even though the game itself doesnt' take too big a bite out of your resources, if you're on the edge then you could run into problems.

TSRs - On a related note, do you have a lot of TSRs running in the background? Try killing all non-essential programs that may be running and see if that helps.

BIOS/Drivers - it's also possible that an old driver or out-of-date BIOS could be interfering. Make sure you've got all the latest updates of pretty much everything.

Disk fragmentation - Also, have you cleaned and defragmented your hard drive(s) recently? It may be an issue ralating to that.

What I'd recommend is that you follow the standard procedures outlined un the CTD section of the FAQ (see link in my sig.):

- uninstall EU2 completely
- dowmload & install latest Windows Update (if any)
- download & install latest BIOS & drivers (if any)
- download % install latest DirectX update (if any)
- clean the hard drive
- defragment the hard drive
- install EU2
- download & install the 1.05 patch
- try playing the game for a while (without the EEP) and see if you have any problems at all. If you do, post again in this thread and describe the problem in detail (any error messages or anything else that you think might help) along with complete system details as per the Read Before Posting sticky (link in my sig.)
- Only after you're sure that you don't have any problems running the standard 1.05 install, then download the EEP and install
- play some more. If you start having problems again then post in the EEP forum since it's probably something strange happening there.

Let me know how it goes. :)
