can someone for the love of god pleeeeeeeeaaaaaase explain to me what the actual F is going on with the fighting/battle mechanics ? how is this even possible ... this makes 0 sense

Yes, the military aspect of CK3 is terrible, and it drags down all other aspects of the game...

  1. Internal diplomacy. If you don't depend on your vassals militarily, or if you're so strong that you can literally defeat all of them on your own, you won't bother dealing with them diplomatically, which breaks that entire side of the game.
  2. External diplomacy. If you're a small kingdom that can easily defeat an empire eight times your size, international diplomacy also becomes meaningles. (because Superman doesn’t need allies).
  3. Economy. If your troops are enough to solve any conflict, you'll never rely on mercenaries, you'll always have excess gold, and the economy aspect is affected as well, etc...
  4. Economy. You’ll also be able to use your military power to extort your vassals without consequences, etc...
  5. ETC...


The only hope is that it's still pending a military rework, so everything depends on how that rework is carried out.
