Fixed Muslim, Pagan factions (Titles !)

*** Check bottom for BETAS ***

I made a mod for muslims, pagans etc what it does is as follows :
Allows muslims, pagans etc to Grant Titles
Allows muslims, pagans etc to Create Titles
Allows muslims, pagans etc to Grab Titles
Saves muslims, pagans to save game so you don't need to edit save to continue playing

***Includes the 3 scenarios with tags added to allow you to select muslim, pagan countires at the start of a new game***

This is NOT simply a mod to make muslims selectable at a new game this is a mod to make muslims playable in all regards. Not only can you select muslims but you can do everything that catholics can do (you couldn't before).

Muslims, Pagans etc will be more aggressive now and expand (Creating vassals as they go along). I've seen brittany and ireland conquered a few times not to mention siege of essex.... (quite fun!).

This is more than a mod to simply allow you play eastern factions.

I would be interested if anybody wishes to join in and help out (the idea is you could make events and make the feel of playing muslim much better)

Download link for thoes who want it (bottom of page)

I wanted to play as the muslims in persia but i quickly found i couldn't create titles thus i couldn't expand far or else demise limit would kill me. I could change to orthodox but that would be stupid orthodox king ruling turk muslims? Attacking an orthodox byzantine empire? lol.

Feel free to request a feature or anything you think would be cool to change.

Titles.jpg

As you can see by this a *pagan* is able to give titles to another pagan and has already given 2 provinces (see log).

You open "1066_scenario.eug" and add a new tag for example if you want to play as Seljuk Turks add this to top :

SELJ = {
gender = male
type = kingdom
title = { SELJ }
}

Basically add any muslim country you want to play as to scenario file. Only difference is when you use this fixer you can actually *use* them countries properly.

Sounds interesting, and I would test it, but I'm using the June beta.

How exactly does the creating titles work? Because it seems like pagans get different titles for places than a Christian. IE. Certain tribes are the equivilant of kingdoms, but Christians can only get dukedoms out of the area, and vice versa. Wouldn't this screw up the game balance a bit if pagans/muslims were able to claim Christian titles?

Let me explain, You can make pagans playable in any CK game but they are limited to make them *undesirable* for example you can't create titles, grab titles, grant titles to courtiers etc. What i did was fix it so you can create titles like you can become a King you can grant your courtiers titles.

All this does is make pagans etc much more fun to play so you can start off as persia and try take on the might of the byzantine empire.... Should be fun.

I understand all of that, but if you look at the map, certain tribes of pagans and what not have titles which are the equivilant to Christian kings, in areas that Christians wouldn't be able to create kingdoms. This would overpower the pagans or the muslims that started out as kingdoms and then were able to claim Christian kingdoms, as the Christians wouldn't have a chance of claiming the Pagan/Muslim king titles.

Which doesn't really matter if you are just messing around, but it slightly skews the balance if you want to play a serious game.

May I ask, what you did exactly to make it possible?

I changed the part of the game that checks if your *christian* and allowed to do that, Basically it just thinks everything is fine and allows it. (It doesn't think your christian it just allows all cultures)

I'm currently playing as Seljuk Turks in my test game and everything is working fine.

By altering the exe?

Before you get scared that I'm trying to get you into trouble with these questions, let me assure you that I'm not. There already are for example unlimited time patches, which alter the exe for each game. I'm asking because I'd like to know what exactly you did, since I thought it's impossible to make that change.

I didn't modify the exe in any way shape or form the changes are purely memory based and thus they disappear the second you close the game. It's a clean way of doing it unlike exe patching.

This is just an example of what you could actually do modding the game. However this is the one i *just* had to make in order to play every country and get full experience

I'm skilled in programming (assembly,vc++,vb), debugging and of course trainer making.

This fixer is essentially a form of trainer but it's specifically *not* a cheat so you can't call it a trainer since a trainer is 99.9% cheat.

Nice work!

Since I'm not a programmer, I'm not too familiar with the terminology. Trainer is essentially an external program that alters the way the game plays, right? Or am I completely on the wrong track?

You are correct a trainer is a 3rd part tool designed to modify the way the game does anything you can think of. Such as making all cultures able to grant titles.

Although trainers usually come as *infinite ammo* *all weapons* *god mode* etc.

So it's not so easy to class it a trainer. :)

Their different titles don't mean anything it's just same as orthodox to catholic they are different titles but same thing.

As far as balance goes i wouldn't say it unbalances anything it's same as playing england, byzantine, naples.....

I'll ask a moderator here to have this thread moved to Scenarios & Modifications, since that's what it is and it's easier to find there than here. Perhaps even having more descriptive title, so it's easier to search for.

If it works without any problems, it's a great mod.

Will you need to do a new version always when the exe is changed?
