All of my drivers are up to date, I just installed XP a week ago, and I have tried it using the original install (1.07) as well as after patching to 1.09. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice, as well as trying each of the suggestions in the support FAQ thread.

I'm pulling my hair out here...is there anything else I should try to make the damn thing work?

But what exactly is happening? Are you saying it only crashes with one particular scenario? With any new game, or saved game? What is the nature of the crash?

Any new game, regardless of country, scenario, or patches installed. I can't load a save game since I can't get one to begin with. When I start a new game it begins to load but within a few seconds the screen turns black and the "EU2 has had an error and needs to close message" pops up.

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.
2) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
3) Set the color depth to 16BIT
4) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
5) Run a Virus check and a Adware/Spybot checker
6) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-4.

Particular for you try the rename of the AVI folder if that does not work rename the music/sound folder(s) as well.

Hmm, renaming the AVI folder seemed to fix the problem. Thanks!
