Game crashes on ruler death/abdication

Description​

Playing on Steam Deck. Game has crashed periodically during this run but frequency has increased the longer the game has gone on. Usually restarting the game allows me to progress further, but now my current ruler dying/abdicating via mental break (I have tried both) always results in a crash to desktop.

Steps to reproduce​

Let the game run until ruler dies (usually within the year) or choose abdication option when mental break occurs.
