Game freezes when loading scenario or save game

Whenever I try to load a scenario or save game HOI2 freezes at the begining when it says initializing provinces. I've tried reinstalling but the problem still persists. Please help.

It was working fine till Monday when I opened it using a spreadsheet. (OpenOffice 2.0) I didn't change it or save it using the program.

Yup that will do it, that messes with the formating, you prob had it autosave or, you now associated that file type with the spreadsheet program.
You could look at your associations and manual delete that one.

Also try a complete wipe of the game, find instructions in the sticky thread on the subject. Then a fresh install and the latest patch 1.3a.
