Game freezes.

Hi,

Playing as Germany in the GC around Dec 1942 my game freezes. I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to end HOI2 as it is completely idle and nothing can be clicked, mouse is frozen etc.

So far I had no problems at all in this (few weeks long) game, except one or two random crashes (ctd). The game stops at around Dec 12 to 16 at random. Music keeps running for a while.

Help would be great.

Win XP Pro
AMD 64 3000+
Geforce 6800GT 256
1 Gig RAM
X-Fi card
Asus A8N-E borad

Normal clock speed on everything. Every driver, win xp, etc... is up to date. HOI2 is v1.2.

If you load an older save and play to that point does it still crash?

I've seen this too, it is caused by a corruption in the save, all you need to do is going back to an earlier one then your set. Or a neat trick whch sometimes works is to change your country and run a day then reload as the original one. This works with MP saves too, the lockup is I think caused by an event firing. ie the Swedish winter war one caused me to lockup in a game once so I reloaded the save and played as Germany and the event fired for the AI fine so I saved and reloaded back as sweden no probs

It seems it had to do with the autosave. I have turned it off and now it works fine. I just have to remember to save once in a while.

Weird that the autosave should cause that.

At what game speed setting were you running your game?
