I can't get the game to start.

Install and patching has been done without probelms. Intro and so on goes just fine. My program ends without giving an error message when I have chosen a scenario and a country and click on start. I check the task manager but CK is not running. It is as if the window was just closed.

I have tried using both the original version of the game and the 1.01 patch.

Processor Type: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.06 GHz System Memory Size 512

Amilo D Series Fujitsu Siemens Computer Mobile

OS: Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 5.1.2600

Parallell Port Address 378, Parallell Port Mode Normal, Parallell Port IRQ 7

Hard disk Total memory 55,8 GB 48,1 GB free

Internal memory 512 MB

Virtual memory set to 768 MB

Grafic card Mobility Radeon 9000

I have not faund anything specifically mentioned about a video card but the diagnostics tool for dirext X says it is estimated 64 MB. The grahic setting is 1400*1050 (32 bit) 60 Hz.

CD-Rom HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC 424 IN

Audio Card VIA AC 97 Audio Codex

Direct X version 8.1 from the CD, which is bloody strange because the cover says it’s supposed to be Direct X 9.0 or later. However I have installed the direct X windows 2k English version from the CD and 8.1 is what I get.

I think that’s everything you asked for in the sticky

Sure hope you can help me get the game working because I have read many AArs and it seems very interesting.

I'd suggest grabbing the 1.02 patch, and trying that.

But I bet your problem is your graphics mode and/or drivers. Head over to Fujitsu and grab the newer drivers, I saw they just updated them on April 20th. There are a bunch of Amilo D models listed, some of them supporting rather curious graphics modes, make sure your in 1024 x 768... Good luck :)

Never install an earlier version of DirectX than you already have installed, even if it comes on the disk and espically if it is for a different version of windows than you are using.

Do upgrade your system to DX9.0B which you can find on the windows update page.

Also try these things:
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock

Great!
