I guess the message means what it says, it thinks Steam is not running. Did you start the game from the PLAY button in Steam, or how?

What OS are you on?

Could be a possible Steam API connection issue (Cannot find the running service), Steam has those with a lot of games if there's a sudden disconnection. Closing out of Steam completely and loading it back up may fix the problem and in rare cases running Steam in Administrator will also fix it.

Let us know if it works out.

No problem,
Have a good day.

Sorry for the deleted reply, I just figured out the removal of badges. It's under owneditems in your forum account settings, So hover over your name up the top right and click Owned Items, You can then set them as inactive by dragging the badges, If I'm not mistaken.

If I am mistaken then sorry for the interrupt.
