So I bought Victoria 3 last night, installed it and attempted to play it but whenever I would press play on the launcher, it wouldn't start the game and gave me this error message. I did what it told me to do yet it still wouldn't launch. I then found a post on the forum of a person with the same issue, I followed what the(I'm assuming admin?) told the man to do but I still get the same error message. I even tried running the Vic 3 application in the files as admin or just normally and it still wouldn't open. Is there a way to fix my game?

When you ran victoria3.exe by itself, was there any other error?

Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.txt

It sadly did not work. Here's the pdx_settings but I cannot find the logs folder in the Victoria 3 files so I couldn't find the System.log, error.log, and exceptions.txt, I also can't attach the DXDIAG file for some reason

That error code translates into
Code:
0xC000001D
STATUS_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION

{EXCEPTION} Illegal Instruction An attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction.
Most likely cause is an attempt to use one of the AVX instructions on a CPU that does not support those. AVX is mandatory for this game.

What CPU (make/model) do your have installed in your system?

I'm not home right now but I can tell you it's an Intel, when I get home I can send over the specifics

I have an Intel Pentium G4560 as my CPU

Then that is indeed the problem here - the game's minimum requirements include CPUs with AVX support.

  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3470 | AMD® FX™ 9370 (AVX support required)
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia® GeForce™ GTX 660 (2GB) | AMD® Radeon™ R7 370 (2GB) or Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics or AMD® Radeon™ Vega 8

Unless you have access to a machine that meets that requirement, please seek a refund from where you bought the game.

Sorry for the bad news!
