Just a thought, can you do a clean install, then instal 1.04 only.
Play a game with NO mods and see if the problem is still there.

It is a clean install with no mods actually.

Im running two copies.

It couldn't be my GFX card could it? I think my memory is more then sufficient :).

I asked about the Mods, because of your sig. ;)
No you have lots of memory.
What is the name of your graphics card and what driver version are you running?

I have seen this also, by late 1944 the game is almost frozen, even moving the curser becomes a chore, and I had to freeze the screen to remove the pop-up diplo messages, as just hitting enter seems to stop working at that point.

Could this be a result of the parameters of the units, countries and setup changing as the war progresses?

It was quite infuriating.

System specs please.

Could it possible be I play with units and not counters and with FOW off?

FOW would effect performance.
Counters vs sprites - don't think so.

Have you checked if anyone has reported this on the bug forum?

Others useing the CORE mod have reported problems with that mod causing extreme memory usage, resulting in slow downs.

Something is happening, since the only people that have had this problem all have CORE on their hard drive.

Okay both of you please try and rename your AVI folder to AVI_back, Then turn off the music.

Also check the size of your save game and report it here.

Which install is the primary install?
The one that the registry points to?

Can you run a DirectX diagnostic for me.

Isn't that what I posted in the first post?

Nope.

From the start menu, go to all programs - Accessories - System information - Then tools pull down menu - DirectX diagnostic tool.
Then run all tests on each page.

Burris, I cannot figure this out.

I have had more people with CORE installed complain of the memory spike.

I can only think that some how your clean install is interacting with the CORE mod.

I confess I am a little confused. It could always be coincidence, but the only people that have this problem have CORE on their hard drive, or installed.

Can you look through your mod and see if you can find any possible cause.

I know that, however It could still be referenceing the other drive some how, like with a moddir?

Do you have access to another computer you can try it on?

I doubt it but a new Video card is always a good idea ;)

Probably not the video card but maybe drivers. Also, since you're running an Athlon you may want to make sure your motherboard/chipset drivers are up to date; either the mb manufacturer or chipset manufacturer should have updates (I'm only familiar with VIA chipsets so I don't know how ALi, SiS, or AMD handle their chipset updates).

Thanks for the suggestions, All the computers on my system run Intel so I am not too fammiliar with the Athlon chips. :(

I know you took CORE off your HD, but are you still using the ModDir command at all?

Lower resolution and color depth, do increase the performance of your video card.

This sounds like there is a memory leak or something though.

Look at the self help sticky thread. #1 Uninstall, is a hot link, it gives more detailed instructions.
As for CORE I have no idea, you would have to ask them.

I have that feeling all the time myself. :)

A mod consists of a collection of events etc using commands made available from Paradox. It's not like we are modifying the hoi.exe file.

I am not really suposed to help with support for mods, however, is there a possibility one of the events is causing some kind of loop?
