a few months ago, I could easily reach 400 years with little to no lag in the game. I stopped playing the game for 3 weeks and when I came back to it, it was super slow and struggled to reach 100 years. I had not installed anything into my computer except for a few updates, and everything else runs fine except for the game and other paradox titles. I have stopped playing since then but I really want to get back into the game before Holy Fury is released. Please help?

There's not been a CK2 update since you last played (2.8.3.3 was just a CK2 -> EU4 converter update), so it really seems like it has to be something on your machine. Maybe you have a new CPU- or memory-hungry resident process running? Check your system monitor. Operating system and antivirus updates/settings changes are also likely suspects. Heat (or dust) can also be a problem, causing your system to automatically step your CPU down to a lower speed when it gets hot. A non-functional or weak fan can also contribute to this problem.

I do not have a new CPU and the only program that seems to be taking a lot of processing power is Chrome, which I close while playing. I have thought about it being a heat problem, but an external fan doesn't seem to help much. I did uninstall McAfee and let Windows defender take over. If you need my system information, its a year-old Dell laptop with windows 10 installed and 16 GB of ram. (sorry if I don't give enough information. I am awful with computers.)

Might sound like a cliche but perhaps try to uninstall and reinstall the game, it shouldn’t take too long. If you said it used to run fine before then I assume your specs are fine.

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

I just saw this. So sorry for late reply

This computer only has an Intel video system, which is not supported hardware for any of our games precisely because it is slow.

That said if it ran okay before it should still. You say our other games are affected too, such as EU4 and HOI4, is that right?

Does this slowness become evident in the main game menu? As you start a new game? Or only later on, or after playing for a while?

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 30 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
