Since a couple of major patches (maybe since 3.2) the game starts with wrong resolution (most probably much lower than is set). If I do an ALT-Tab then go back to the game it fixes the problem without anything to do (this is the only way to fix the problem since the resolution is okay). My resolution for the game is 1920*1080, it is set in the launcher and in the game aswell properly. The game have been reinstalled several times, always the same problem.

Right click on stellaris.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

Is that any better?

Nope, it is still the same. If I alt-tab then go back it fixes the resolution. This is the only game I have this kind of problem.

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

Here are the requested files. Because the error.log is completely empty I cannot attach it.

Thanks for your help.

Vsync off, refresh rate 60.
I can see you haven't done this part - please try that.

If that doesn't help, I don't have anything else to suggest, I'm sorry!

I tried that, it's still the same. Really odd bug, I never experienced this kind of bug before. As I told you it's started a couple of major patches before.

I found out something: if I start the game in fullscreen mode (set in the launcher) this problem always come, but if I set to borderless fullscreen then it's working properly.

So my problems is with the fullscreen mode only. What can cause this?

Hey, I have the exact same problem and in my case also playing borderless was the solution but I have found out that setting the renderer to DX9 makes the problem disapear but in my case also introduces a long loading times

Same issues on my end. This started with Apocalypse on my end. Using borderless does fix the issue on my end. As a side note, and I know this thread is older, if you alt-tab to do something else do your temps increase and gpu fans start to rev up? Only game that does this for me.
