Good MP pairs

My friend and I play locally over the internet a lot and I was wondering what everyone thought would be 2 fairly equal countries to start off with together.

Our first game I was France and he was Austria and we did a pretty well, owning 80% of Europe by the end of the game and France owned California.

We are half way through the second game. He's Austria again (loves the Haps) and I'm Sweden. Naturally, he's kicking my tail in VP but I'm holding my own everywhere else.

In the next game, I would like to be Bavaria. What would match up well with them? He is thinking about Saxony or Brittany.

Any other good pairs for future games?

Well...

I would go for Britanny as they have loyal claim on all France's provinces and their culture are french(of course) but Gaelic also,so they can invade Eire and scotland whitout too much revolts.

I have always enjoyed playing a Saxony-Brandenburg game. Where we then go on to unite all of Germany under are war banners

Pommerania and Bavaria sounds fairly equal, none of them gets as much leaders as Brandenburg/Saxony however. But there will be plenty of space to expand before their interests collides somewhere in Bohemia perhaps.

Hi,

There are a couple of good MP pairs to choose from, I for myself like Austria vs Ottoman Empire, or Castille vs. Ottoman Empire the most, as both get plenty of historical events, brilliant leaders, and have a fair chance of becoming the main powers ot Europe.
