"You're in charge of the army of course. I think Bad Jack might be best qualified for #3. I'll likely be doing #4 myself. This gentleman(indicates the Lone Wanderer) has volunteered for #6. That leaves #1 and #5, each of which could benefit from any number of qualified personnel."

Desmond Jones's face scrunches up in confusion at this sentence. "No disrespect Overseer Glickman, but I believe you already said that I would be the one interrogating the prisoner in order to locate his compatriots."

"That's right, but Jack is more experienced at blending in with those sorts and getting close without alarming them. You interrogate the prisoner. He, and you if you want and he approves, confirm that information or go out scouting if there isn't any. Then we'll know for sure where they are and what we're going up against, and can make a plan to wipe them out with minimal casualties."

John decided to join the conversation. John had, after listening to the Overseer for a while, been trying to change his accent a little bit.

"Overseer, I wouldn mind investigatin for resources and supplies. Give me a list o'things we need and I'll try to get what I can."

Turn 3 Update - Winter, CE 2035

Character Orders

Desmond Jones attempted to interrogate the prisoner captured at Riverbridge starting with extracting the location of Heavy Breathe and the supplier of their weapons. The Blak Dog of course refused to give any information and so the beatings began that lasted for three days. Unfortunately for the Blak Dog he still refused to supply information when the machete and batteries were brought out. He died without giving up anything of importance. (+5 ability for Desmond Jones)

Magnus Brack and the Virgilists volunteered for the Carnacian army. Brack was made an officer. Brack continued his recruitment efforts with a series of speeches in his living quarters that has become the Virgilist headquarters of sort. Twenty new followers were recruited in the Winter of Twenty Thirty Five. (+20 influence for Magnus Brack)

Michael McLean initiates his military reforms seeking to build a well trained and better organized army. 50 immigrants are recruited into the army and underwent training at the newly built Camp Glickman. The construction of Camp Glickman cost Carnac 50 scrap metal to build and will cost 50 fuel and twenty soldiers to maintain per turn. The training of the new recruits ended after two months having already performed patrols and guard duties. 10 soldiers were trained in the use of the heavy machine gun and the artillery battery. This squad has become known as a Support Squad.

The Carnacian army now numbers 60 soldiers and five squad leader slots. Physical and marksmanship training along with courses on wasteland tactics and strategy has transformed the Carnacian army into a formidable force on the Black Plains.

Doctor Orlov healed the wounded from Riverbridge. (+20 influence, +20 ability)

"Gator" Shaw joined the Union of Mechanics but did not gain any influence from it.

Bad Jack hearing of an old enemy staying near town decides to pay him a visit. Bad Jack and Gator Shaw succeed in killing the slaver Solitaire and freeing a cart load of slaves into Carnac. (+10 influence +20 ability for both)

Ralph Glickman sends multiple diplomats to nearby settlements in the Black Plain to establish friendly relations with them all. The communities of Bricktown, Sun Flower, Uriah Hill, and Plains City have been contacted. Bricktown has a population of 120 and 40 soldiers. Sun Flower has a pop of 90 and 20 soldiers. Uriah Hill has 100 people and 50 soldiers. Plains City has 140 people and 40 soldiers.

Bricktown requests a military alliance and proposes a trade agreement. 30 water for 80 metal per turn.
Sun Flower requests a military alliance.
Uriah Hill has requested a cooperative system of forts along the trade route through Crystal Palace to the Hub.
Plains City turned away our diplomats. They are too reliant on Crystal Palace and their slave exports to turn toward Carnac.

Glickman attempted to establish contact with other satelites in orbit but failed.

Catherine Kendall established Unity, a faction/order dedicated to helping the sick and mediating between the factions of Carnac.

Fort d'Retur recovers but becomes an alcoholic. (health = mediocre/alcoholic)

John Rivera and a small contingent discovered several nearby ruins that are excellent sources for scrap metal. (+10 influence, +10 ability). Raw Materials increased to Surplus!

James Dokken helps the Union of Mechanics with their portion of the housing project. Dokken and five mechanics venture out to a nearby ruined town and drag back an old operational pick up truck. They repaired the truck giving Carnac its first battle vehicle.

"Sorry t'hear 'bout your problems with that Blak Dog we caught, Jones. Sometimes the fool that gives himself up is too much of a dumbass to know anything worthwhile.

So, how about we organise a party to scour the wastes and hunt down the rest of those dirt-eaters that call themselves "Blak Dogs", Overseer Glickman?"

Bad Jack assembles a bunch of good men in the more rowdy part of the barracks.

"Alright boys. We got Glickman's approval. We're hunting down some scumbag cannibals. If you've ever lost someone to some hick in the wild, well, now's the time to avenge 'em.

I got a few rules for you, though: First, don't kill anyone who's about to tell you where their buddy is. Someone willing to redeem themselves should be taken back home for interrogation.

Second, don't fire on anyone who you ain't sure is a Blak Dog. This one ain't negotiable. I ain't starting a war with the Palace just because you wanted to cap some Raider.

Thirdly, armour you find from the dead goes to you, but weapons go the Carnac Guard. I know you all want to be the badass with a sniper, but the army needs weapons more than your ego does.

Oh, anyone who's capable of leading, declare yourself now. I'm gonna allow the first two badass motherfuckers who speak up to serve as my seconds.

Understood? Great. Lets hunt down some bad people".

"I believe we should accept the alliance proposals and trade agreement, I'm willing to consider the forts idea, but I will need to see a detailed assessment of costs and expected benefits before committing to it".

"Remember this is a small(5-10 at most) recon mission. Don't try to fight them yourselves, just find them, without letting them know they've been found, and come back and lead the army to them."

"Alright, that's understandable. Jones'll be my second - for any other hopefuls, tough luck, he spoke up first -, leading a party to the south and east, while I'll lead a group north and west. Small groups'll be engaged, wounded'll be captured and taken home. Large ones'll be tagged for a task force lead by God-knows-who to deal with."

The Overseer looked up from the gruesome autopsy report in front of him at the man responsible for it.

"Mr Jones, when I said: 'See what you can get out of him, but remember we're the good guys. Don't go too far.' Precisely what the hell did you think I meant?!"

"Mr. Overseer, it was not my intention to eliminate the possible source of information without extracting anything viable from him. However, his adamant refusal to give up any information forced me to use force that now appears excessive. I had not anticipated his strength of will and for that I apologize. I had never encountered such extreme devotion to the cause in previous raiders and their near-military discipline and tactics makes me think that it might not be simple raiders we are dealing with." - Desmond Jones, Soldier by Trade and Killer by Habit

Brack speaks.

"Mister Overseer, myself and the Virgilists offered our strict discipline and prowess for the betterment of Carnac society and army, but we were shunned in favor of men like this, who proclaim backwards tribals have "near-military discipline". Perhaps it will take my further service to showcase what I offer, but surely you can see the faults in those you trusted over us."
