I just installed EU2 on my computer after a long absence and I decided to update it to the latest patch (1.08). For some reason, even after installing v1.08 it still says on the main screen of EU2 that i'm running v1.00. Is this normal? Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

No. It should say "EU2 v1.08" in the left upper corner of the screen.

Did you actually go through the installation or did you only download the patch to your computer? Are you sure you only have one copy of EU2 installed?

Only one copy and I did install the patch. Should I restart and try it again? I had 1.07 a while back and that worked fine. Now with a fresh install I can't get it to update to 1.08 for some reason.
 
I'll bet you still have entries in your registry pointing to the old installation location. I'd uninstall EU2 entirely, clean out the registry of any mention of EU2 (ie search for "europa" and "universalis"), then reinstall and apply 1.08.

I'm having the same problem, except it's stuck on patch 1.07 for some reason. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the game twice and even checked the regedit for any entries that might pertain to EU2, but it's still on patch 1.07.
I'm at a loss as to what to do next. :confused:
 
So when you run the 1.07 patch (why not 1.08 by the way)
What happens?
 
I'm trying to upgrade to patch 1.08 is what i'm trying to say.
I cant find anything on my computer for patch 1.07, which is the weird part. When I reinstall the game, it's automatically on 1.07, and won't let me upgrade to 1.08.

Edit: Okay, I have the Strategy First version, which explains why I start off with version 1.07. Still doesn't make sense as to why I can't apply 1.08 to it though.

Hmm do you by chance have the non Paradox released version that came with Crown of the North?
 
Did you check the install shield entries?

Look at the self help guide (which is stickied at the top of this forum)
Post number 4 I think has manual uninstall instructions.

When you installed did you install to the default drive and the default path?
 
I am having a similar Problem here. i uninstalled did everything, but when i look in REGEDIT it says that 1.08 is installed, but when i load up EU2 it still says 1.00 in the corner. i have installed and cleaned everything roughly 5 times and im growing frusterated.
 
What publisher version do you have?
 
First empty your temporary Internet files,
delete the patch, remove the game from your system following the instructions in post #4 of the self help thread stickied at the top of this forum.

Do a fresh install:
then Download the patch,
Try the one from this link:
http://www.paradoxplaza.com/files/patches/eu2_1.08.exe

then run the patch from the folder you saved it in.

And since you say it says 1.00 then I assume your EU2 did not come with any other games.
