To your question yes I have gotten it via Magnifying glass as a third one in my 2nd ever play through.
My only real beef playing this game is how breakthroughs are handled I really hate the Rng aspect and it takes so long in the game to get an idea on what it is you re actually stuck with.
My third play through first 4 breakthroughs killed it for me. Solar panel power output upgrade which was sort of helpful but not really game changing. Soylant green which was worthless as I was overflowing in food already, Printed Electronics which made building drones cost metal instead of electronics however I had self sufficient electronic production and would rather hord the metal for machine parts and building. Then Inspiring Architecture which gives a dome with a spire a boost to morel biiiiig whoop. Those where my first 4 and the rest where just as pointless for me.... killed that game for me rather then making it interesting.
I would like a little more control on breakthroughs as it is now it is just a giant pain. Nice idea badly implemented. Rng implementation can be fun as a mystery but for interesting game changing tech we have no control or idea what we are going to get or how any of it is weighted.
