I am not really doing well on deciphering scripts. I need some help, but it wouldn't be too many scripts. Maybe a dozen or two. I am tring to play a scenario which maximizes the Socialist Bloc.
Let me explain what I am trying to do.
I stated off on the fan made Grand campaign starting in 1914. I was successful to changing the end dater to Dec 31, 9999. That wasn't hard and neither is changing the probability of certain choices on triggers.
Here is what I want to do and where I run into problems:
I start off in 1914 playing as the Zapatistas in Mexico. I want to play as them and win the Mexican Revolution. But every few months the game deletes all my armies. How can I stop this trigger?
I want to play as the Zapatistas until the Bolshevik Revolution. Then I will play as the USSR. In my first play through I defeated Poland in the Polish-Soviet War but then WW2 never triggered. So the next go around I'd reduce it to a smaller rump state, then I would change to Nazi Germany, get Spain and Portugal to join the Axis, conquer France, the lowlands, Scandinavia, UK, Ireland and Iceland. Then I would switch back to the USSR.
At this point I figure I could have the US just fight in the Pacific and not in Europe and the Soviets would control a Bloc of a liberated Fascist Europe from coast to coast. Possibly the entire Korean peninsula too.
The British, French, Belgian, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese Empires would release it colonies as Socialist states also in the Bloc.
Would have to change the line of succession from history from here on out. I figured I'd have Ike die in a plane crash after the war in the Pacific (no war in Europe would mean he would have fought in the Pacific. He ends up being an important player as the pro-Cold War swing of the Republicans, so I am trying to delay the Cold War so he needs to be out. I had an uncle who served in the war in Europe but died after hostilities because some general needed him to fly in a plane and they ended up crashing in the Alps. So a similar scenario for Ike dying in plane crash in the Pacific.)
I watched Oliver Stone's documentary Untold History of the United States, and he makes a good case the FDR's VP Henry Wallace did not want the Cold war, but Truman was foisted on FDR by the Democratic machine and Truman went along with Churchill, whereas FDR tried to marginalize Churchill and work more with Stalin. So I would have Henry Wallace stay VP and succeed FDR.
Now the question would be how long until the nuclear stockpiles moved the world from the realm of limited nuclear warfare to mutual assured Destruction. I would say by 1960 it was MAD. So what is the latest there could be a limited nuclear war?
With the US not in a Cold War, they likely would still have a degree of an arms race I think.
Another question would be how many terms does Wallace get? Does a USA under him not install the term limits that came after FDR? Does he remain president until the 1950s? Or do the Republicans take office? If so, I would have non-interventionists GOP have the presidency, and with Ike dead I could see a Robert Taft/John Bricker Ticket with Bricker succeeding Taft until...
There is a coup in the US. Hardline anti-communists like J. Edgar Hoover, General MacAurthur have an emergence committee to deal with a "constitutional crisis" to remove the president and either have the committee rule OR install Joseph McCarthy as president, turning the US hard right, even fascist maybe. This would be similar to the so-called Business Plot, or the coup against Allende in Chile (which with one brief turbulent period during the depression, remained a stable constitutional republic for about 100 years prior). The they and Soviets go to war.
Back in the USSR events would also change. I believe Stalin was in fact poisoned by Beria. I have read some things about the Doctor's Plot that lead me to believe Stalin was planning on implicated Beria in the fiasco to remove him. The Politburo had been doubled in size, renamed the Presidium and filled with younger faces alongside the old. Another purge would bring in a new line of successors that Stalin could then hand of power to. I picked Ponomarenko based on one article I read that suggested Stalin had considered him. Ponomarenko fought with the partisans in Belorussia. That being his background, i could see party literature give him the kind of backstory Mao, Tito, Hoxha, etc had. The point here is to keep the USSR close to Stalinist as long as possible. I have notes on other nations in the bloc and their leaders based on this hardliner criteria.
Also, I want to add a script where by the USA can give independence for Puerto Rico, or the Ponce Massacre (1930s) and the Juyaya Uprising (1950s) can trigger an event where the US decides to move toward independence or clamp down hard.
Can anyone help me with this? Again, I'm planning a play through, so i can just do this in the game mostly, but I need to fix the Zaptatistas and change the leaders and create scripts for Puerto Rico. Sounds easy enough, but I can't seem to make it work.
Thank you for reading this far. Also, if you have some ideas for the scenario, let me know.
