The TV coat of arms isn't nice either. It looks like the banner of an American football team. 100% designed for merchandise, not for looking like something that you would be able to make with medieval technology.

It also violates a bunch of heraldic principles In the choice of colors. Red man on white X on black field - that doesn't work for me. this whole idea of white x on black looks way too much like somethimg that you would print, not something that you would sew from naturally dyed cloth. the X enclosed by black is a very complex pattern, you could not sew it from one piece, you would have to make it from several pieces and that means as a flag it would come apart at the many seams way too fast.

Book coats of arms is cheesy but better in my eyes. At least I can imagine someone dyeing a linen cloth pink and sewing red appliances on it, for a durable flag for outdoor use.

Actually in the books he is described as ugly, big-boned and with a body type thats very likely to become fat or fleshy.
To become, not that he is. As far as I remember, he is described as big as in big, not fat big. But, eh, whatever.

No one is protecting any precious 'lore' here. That argument is flat out wrong. Sorry for your loss. If you like the pink emblem that doesn't make you Hitler, just a person with bad taste. I am fairly certain that, like many other oddities from the book the spirit of the novels would not be besmirched by using a more widely known and beloved icons. I also understand your nerd rage reaction to protect the alleged purity of the content. I am not impressed by it however, faux elitism being a poor argument as again, in no way is the sanctity of the story infringed upon.

If you're really that worked up about it, why don't you mod it yourself? Changing a flag shouldn't be that hard.

I'm too lazy to find my books, but I recall it's something to the effect of 'fleshiness that suggests he would go to fat as he gets older.'

this is such a stupid thing to argue about, personally I would prefer the devs to concentrate on gameplay aspects and bug killing rather than catering to what people think are the proper banners to use. If you really don't like it, change it yourself or ask someone who mods to do it for you. You will not win this argument here, the devs won't change their minds so just drop it and move on.

Firstly, if you want to call this thread an argument fine but I do not think anyone is here to 'win' the 'argument'. IF and I say that with great emphasis, IF anyone 'won' it was me cause now I have the banner I want and don't have to look at that pink thing ever again. No one had to admit their opinion was off no one's mind had to change and the Devs can go on doing as they have been this whole time dealing with gameplay aspects, ect. ect. So mark this one as solved, won, lost, or whatever your personal perspective is on the matter. KUDOS to Magnus Helvetti for having saved a bunch of angsty fan boys from having THEIR precious canon infringed upon by allowng this discussion go any further. Feel free of course to keep posting here, I have no moderator power but now that I've got me sigil I won't be checking back in here. <o
Yeah I am gonna say me and Toccs won here. Mainly cause now we don't have to read you complaining inanely ever again about a flag you could have easily done yourself!

You are again ! insulting people and therefore I called this discussion an argument and you, my sweet boy, are the most offensive person in this thread. Challenging the view of the mod creators repeatedly isn't just annoying. It is disrespectful.

It's hard not to think that the kudos was sarcastic. Even if it's not, it was literally under five minutes, and I still use the originals because I'm a bookworm, having read all the books twice each in English and twice each in Brazilian Portuguese.

To quote myself here: "lets not kid ourselves into saying that this choice is for the integrity or preservation of some sacred or special thing here."

This obsession with house Bolton and pink is as far as I can tell a figment of a small group of folk's imagination after having latched onto a single paragraph of text that frankly, I cannot locate in my books.

God, you gotta love show people, don't you? So soft-spoken and considerate of other people's opinions.

There is now also a sub mod on the AGOT Citadel forum that changes the Bolton coat-of-arms to the Game of Thrones version.
It is mine, if you look at the name of the poster in both here and there, you'll see it's me, hahaha. I never got registered at the Citadel forums, but been a lurker since day 1... that was a very good excuse to register :)
