I havn't really used text to speech before but I figured it would be very nice in Stellaris to improve the flow and immersion of the game, so I wanted to try it.

I have a problem though, it is talking in a language I do not fully understand. I believe it is Norwegian, though it could also be Danish (I am Swedish myself), I would prefer if it talked in English.

Does anyone know how Stellaris decides what language the text to speech should speak in and if there is any way to change it?

I ran this by some folks in the back end here.

TTS uses the OS language, not the game language. If you want it in English you'll need to set Windows to use English.

We speculate you are not getting Swedish in the game because you don't have a Swedish TTS pack installed in Windows, so it's using some other nearby language.

Thank you! I was able to find the solution based on your picture. "Speech language" was already set correctly but when I clicked the "Preview voice" button it talked in Swedish, so I am guessing it is the voice "Microsoft Bengt" that is buggy. When I changed to a different voice it talked in English both with the "Preview voice" button and in Stellaris.

My guess now is that Microsoft Bengt doesn't have support for English, and when Stellaris got told to use Bengt with English it picked a random language because English wasn't there.
