Obviously it works and seems quite popular, but haven't not done it myself, I can only think of while playing the AI if there is any major engagement or many things happening, I am constantly hitting pause, reading/closing windows, restrategizing/ unpausing, seconds later hitting pause etc etc etc.
Considering how many times I feel it necessary to hit pause/very slow I don't understand how multiplayer is possible.
Just curious about how this works.

When we play multiplayer, we usually have the following speed settings:

Peace: Above normal
War: Below normal or slower (sometimes slow, sometimes slow)

Also, pausing is always allowed. But sure, playing a large country and fighting on multiple fronts (including using your airforce) and at the same time actually do some strategic thinking can realy give you a nervous breakdown.

Also you have to be mindful that perfect is the enemy of good. I often play the UK and there is no end to the amount of time I could spend doing things like:

* optimum assignment of leaders
* studying the tech tree
* sending tech to allies
* developing all those provices all over the globe
* reorganising convoys
* micromanaging troop dispositions and maneuvers.

I try to get as much done as I can but don't fret if things are left undone because time is clearly meant to be a constraint and I don't want to keep the other players waiting.
