How to change the models on the map?

I want to make the interceptors and helicoptors have their own model on the map. In the game, the model of helicopters are the same as the model of machinized troop; the interceptors' and the fighters' use the same model too.
The "the next war" mod achieved using different models for each types of the units. I don't think it is the hard code, but I couldn't find the specific file indecate these models. Does any one know to edit these models?
