Hi!

I have been recently been playing a good game of Kaissereich on Darkest Hour as the Union of Britain. Fun times to be had by all.

However, in this game, Commune of France rushed into a war with Germany and got crushed before I was able to join in, killing the Internationale alliance. In the years after, the Union has been able to re-establish the power of the syndicalist movement worldwide. This is cool and all, but the one thing nagging me is the fact that the Internationale on my Diplomacy tab is still empty.

This brings me to a more general question concerning save game editing. How would I go about making a country a leader of a scenario alliance after the alliance has already kicked the dust? Say that in the vanilla Darkest Hour I would have joined the WW2 as the United States in the late 40's, when the combined forces of the Axis had already wiped out the Allies.

You could simply create an event to make them join the alliance. If you want to edit the savegame, you should find the comintern/allies/alix and add the tag you want to the partecipants (first of the list is the leader).
Thanks! This got me just on the right track.

This doesn't apply if you and your allies are at war, does it?
Do you mean creating an alliance between you and another country that you're at war with? With savegame editing I guess you could, but perhaps it would crash.

No, sorry, I haven't been clear: let's use the actual example.

I'm playing Kaiserreich as Russia. I wanted to get new allies and I did not know that you would have gotten an event to choose if siding with Entente, so I joined the war of the Belgrade Pact (Serbia, Romania, Greece) against Ottoman Empire, as I was guaranteeing the independence of Serbia, Greece and Romania (so no dissent penality) and I joined their alliance, as a classic HoI move.
The problem is that I'm in a paradoxical situation: Serbia is the leader of the alliance, while I'm the actual hegemon in Europe and I military control all my allies.
The problem is that now I'm in a phoney war against German Empire - I steamrolled them in Europe and now they're in Africa, far far away. So it will not end.

If I edit the savegame now, I don't think the changes will apply as I'm at war. Am I right?

Honestly I am not sure, editing the savegames is "dangerous" and can lead to unexpected results. But I believe it could be possibile to change the leader of the alliance in this case, if I understood correctly. I am not sure of what would happen with the war, perhaps that should be edited as well, but I'm not 100% sure. An ad-hoc event would probably be better.
