Hi,

Is there a way to modify a mod i subscribed? Steam doesn't really download the mods.
When checking the documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod folder for files i see for every mod a .mod file but there is no directory on my pc listed for the content, only a steam archive.
Is it possible to download a mod and modify it for myself?

They are in the \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\workshop\content folder, under their respective ID folder. Unzip and move to your mod folder and you should be able to tinker with them.

There is a mod I kinda like but it's author doesn't seem to be bothering updating it, I've figured out how to modify it to make it work with the latest patch (it needs a bit more than changing supported_version), but some strange thing happens whenever I try to modify the mod: as soon as I start the game, the content of the ###.mod file in the mod folder immediately changes to a deficient one, and it becomes unusable. Somehow the game is aware of the smallest change in the mod's zip file and makes it impossible to use.
This also happnes when I change every path, every number of the mod to make it a non-Steam, offline version. The .mod file always gets changed.
Is there any solution for this?

Simple, create a new mod using the files you have modified. If you keep the old name and you are still subscribed to the mod, steam will overwrite the mod.

I tried to change the file names and paths, I made it totally independent from the mod I subscribed to, but the .mod file is still keep being changed.

That is normal, the .mod will be updated each time you run the game. Just disable the mod you subscribed to if you don't want conflict with your modded files.

It is not just disabled, but unsubscribed and deleted. I copied every file, I changed every path and name, it should work, but it just does not.
