With what we know now, how would you like to do your first run, as in what kind of society and ethics would you want your aliens(or humans I guess) to have in your first game?

I want my aliens to be somewhat like the Evucks in the Last Federation(scientific without a moral compass) only more evil :)

I want to engineer horrible diseases and release on my foes, intervene with sentient non-space faring races and muck with their DNA for my own purposes, dig into dangerous and forbidden knowledge and generally be extremely unpleasant. And I want my population to think this is all good and well!

What about you?

Reactions:
Build everything peacefully, advanced science and engineering with lack of military power to back, then proceeded to get wiped by an aggressive with powerful military to boot.

Maybe some sort of theocratic government that messes with non-space races culture (not their biology, the space gods do not care about your DNA!) and eventually makes them into servant races.

Well the Helohim messed with our DNA theoretically...

However I'll play a bad faction too: a Xenophic Empire with, maybe, theocratic elements that considers not human races as inferior, the ones apparently superior are declared liar that are stolen our technology. If we find a planet with not human sentient life that have not reached space technology they will be simply exterminated, if they are humans they will be annexed to the Empire.

Glorious Space Romans

A xenophobic space slug empire ruling their empire with iron fist through their bio-engineered slave soldiers.

Yeah, I feel like an evil person now.

My first run through is gonna be a sort of evil Galactic Empire/Terran Empire clone and im gonna do absolutely anything to not be overrun by a rebellion

Im gonna be the guy everybody hates :p

First run is always, take it easy, try to understand the AI. I never like to do much ahistorical exploit conquest compared to the average forumite, so I will try to be like a more or less peacefull observer.

There's a good chance I'll be going with a religiously fanatical and xenophobic fungoid race a la the Mycon in Star Control, engaging in opportunistic crusades against weaker beings I encounter.

It's going to go down one of two ways... Either I'll remain advanced and strong enough to keep isolated and free of interference from the outside Galaxy, or I'll get curb stomped by a federation largely held together by the idea of destroying my people.
