since the update of 1.6, i cannot launch victoria 3(so does stellaris ) by paradox launcher. however i can run it by running the 'victoria3.exe' in the folder 'binaries' with no dlcs and mods loaded. so how can i start the game by paradox launcher or how can i directly start the game with 'victoria3.exe' as dlcs and mods loaded

What exactly happens when you hit PLAY in Steam on these games? Do you se the launcher at all? If so and you hit PLAY in it, what happens then? Any error show?

Do EU4 and Stellaris work from that launcher okay?

in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

But EU4 works from the launcher, are you saying?

The only unusual thing I see in those logs is you've installed the launcher to be under your E: drive, instead of the default
C:/users/{username}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2024.10/paradox launcher.exe

That ought to work though.

Was there no cpatch.log in that folder?

NO, EU4 can not run either with the same problem

Actually i installed the game directly in steam and it installed the launcher under the steamapp folder in E: drive

i search all my disks for the 'cpatch.log' and find nothing in the end

i have tried to install launcher in the default path and run it. but it cannot detect the game in my disks

You must have run the launcher from the desktop shortcut or Paradox launcher.exe, which is a standalone mode for users who do not want to run Steam. It does need a separate game installation if used that way, but this game was never ported to that platform.
You'll need to run it from the PLAY button in your Steam Library instead.

What happens if you install the launcher in the place I described, then run the game (and thus the launcher) from the PLAY button in your Steam Library rather than running the launcher .exe directly or from a desktop shortcut?

Same as mentioned in #1, when i run the game from the PLAY button in Steam Library, the launcher run. But when i clicked the PLAY button in the launcher, the button turn grey and nothing happened after that

What if you make a new Windows user on this computer and log into it with that? Is it any better there?

Then I do not know what is wrong on this computer to cause this to our launcher.

Please install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here, thanks.

I see you have two antivirus app active on this computer:
Antivirus
QiAnXin Skylar
Antivirus Enabled
Virus Signature Database Up to date

Windows Defender
Antivirus Disabled
Virus Signature Database Up to date

迈克菲VirusScan
Antivirus Enabled
Virus Signature Database Up to date

You need to make sure all these apps are in all their exceptions lists:

victoria3.exe (in the Steam vic3-binaries folder)
dowser.exe (in the Steam vic3-launcher folder)
C:/users/{UserName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2024.10/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users/{UserName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

That should do it for you!

I tried but it seems to make no effect

I'm not sure what else could account for this. You are 100% sure all those .exe file are in all exceptions liosts for both those antivirus apps?

What if you make a new Windows user on this computer and log into it with that?Any different?
