Right now it's 1066, and Georgia is only a minor kingdom in the mountainous Caucacus region, occupying the ancient regions of Colchis and Iberia, north of Armenia. They are the major Christian power along with the Alans to the north, and the Greeks who occupied with the Turks.

The Kingdom of Georgia in 1066

The Kingdom of Georgia is a relatively young state, having been unified from the various principalities in 1008 under Bagrat III. However, the Bragationi dynasty is much older, dating at least as far back as the late 8th century under Ashot I.

But, eh, lets forget about some history and have an introduction into the story's key players.

Ah yes, this is THE man, Bagrat IV, grandson of the great unifier. It's a good thing this dude is a good general, which is good, since Georgia would be much better as an empire anyway. Plus, more conquests means more demense, so partitioning it up won't hurt so bad. He's married two women, Helene Argyos, a Greek, and Borena of Ossetia, sister of the Alan ruler Durgulel.

This is my only son, Giorgi. Rather young man, the product of my second marriage. He is a fairly competant ruler to say the least. He is currently married to a distant cousin, Helena Bagrationi.

Finally, the daughter, Miriam. She happens to be a fairly good diplomat, better than her brother, strange considering her brother is trained as a diplomat and she in court intrigue. But eh, that's life. Anyway, Miriam could be very useful in the court.

And oh yes, finally, a simple family tree to make things simpler. Here:

Well, thats it I guess. It's time to get this show started no? This preview is long enough, no? Alright then.

i have always had some fun playing throwaway games as Georgia, trying to bash as many heathens as possible as soon as possible. Looks promising. Also, Bagrat is a great name

Georgia was the first country I played in CK, back in the day. Overrun by Muslims like that.

for another title suggestion "The Story of Georgia. No, the other Georgia. On the black Sea. In Europe. I give up"

How about Emperor of Byzantium as a title... ;) :D

Well now, my first order of business to marry my beautiful daughter, Miriam, to our Diocese Bishop, this man:

Also, some appointments for various posts are made. The marshal of Georgia is not very competant in his duty, but he's better than no man:

Oh, the spy master of the Kingdom:

And finally, our steward, handling the Kingdom's finances:

To add to this, the daughter, Miriam, is made the Kingdom's chancellor. Well now, it's time to get started and start some heathen bashing! ;)

The steward has a very thick neck.

I mean, really, what is that?

In the spring of 1067, the esteemed Bagrat begins one of his great campaigns to free the people of Kartli from the Sheik P'atlun of Tifles, a Persian ruling over some good ol' Christians. Tisk... tisk...

Anyway, the campaign turns out well, with 2,000 of his and his vassal's men easily defeating the Sheik in glorious battle, beginning the siege of the territory. Of course, Bagrat's loyal ally, his brother-in-law Durgulel, comes to their aid, contributing 1,500 men. After a few months, Kartli is freed from the Muslim invaders, and a day of celebration begins.

However, Bagrat is not content so soon, and decides to begin another spring campaign...

And so, our restless king begins on March of 1068 a campaign against of the Sheikdom of Dwin, leading himself 1,600 men against the very weak forces of their leader, Fald ibn Shaddad. Dwin is another one of those Orthodox territories ruled by the Persians, and as part of Bagrat's conquests, a very savory target indeed.

By September, the fortress protecting the province is taken, and Dwin too is annexed into the Georgian kingdom. For now, Bagrat rests, and soon appoints his son the ruler of these new conquests, granting him Kartli and Tao, the title of Prince of Georgia.

Finally, in April of 1070, I decide I'd like to own Kasogs, another territory owned by some non-believers, ruled by Buurgur the Lustful (ironic in the fact that he's chaste). His own rulership is a cause for alarm, and a lesson must be taught. Anyway, I think it's a good time to do some pagan bashing, no?

Anyway, apparently he died in glorious battle, and now he two year old son is left fatherless, and left with a chiefdom under siege, poor kid. Anyway, you ever notice pagans have funny names, like his, Boz-Uruz?

Ah shoot! Somehow this death may them become annexed by the Cumans, so instead of a small local war, I've have to deal with something big.... :(
Well, atleast my Alan friends are nice enough to help.

Well, I think I'm screwed. My northern border is being overrun, there is no manpower left to draw troops (my son is making my life difficult and has troops levied but isn't doing anything with them), and now the Emirate of Azerbaijan and the Seljuks declare war. What a terrible afternoon.

Well, the kingdom is overrun, and I'm dead.

Sorry folks, life can suck like this sometimes. The question is, shall I begin again, or try Wales? :D

Now that sounds familiar!

Wow...that happened fast! But yes - try again. One can surely learn from their mistakes. And contrary to the others, I have never played Georgia so I'd be interest in reading more.

As for title, right now it seems you'd call it "A Pagan Night in Georgia." ;)

Georgia is Difficult to play : Mongolian Hordes will appear about 1245 :p

Good luck :p
