That's all. Just saying I like what I'm seeing here and will play the hell out of it when its out of beta. The ability to group-select armies is a massive QOL improvement on its own. Choosing which animal you summon, choosing an element on which to focus your hero, more consistency with world-spawned heroes and their themes/style; All of this is excellent and I fully support as much reduction in randomization as I can get. Major thanks to Paradox for all the hard work.

I missed this, where is this in writing?
All it says you'll get an element based on your highest affinity. That is technically not choosing.

From the Griffon beta announcement on Steam:

"Hero Class: Elementlist
Did a complete rework of the Mage hero class, now known as the Elementalist.
  • The Elementalist is focused on magical damage, setting up attacks or delivering the killing blow with powerful abilities.
  • Elementalist heroes chooses a discipline that determines the element of their abilities.
  • Elementalist can learn to tap into the elemental planes and call forth their Spirits."
"World Map Spell “Summon Wild Animal”
  • Renamed to Call Wild Animal
  • When cast you get a choice of 3-4 Animals based on your selected Location
  • One Animal from the list can be chosen
  • Higher Tier Animals incur an additional Mana Cost"
I don't know if these changes are confirmed, precisely, given that they're in a beta. I don't know if it's a beta test to confirm they want these changes or to make sure they work properly.

This is also debatably bad communication for the announcement to not be on the Paradox forums. On the one hand, it's CLEARLY something people should know about, but on the other hand you can't opt into it if you aren't using Steam anyway, which does have the announcement. I'm undecided.

IIRC the previous open betas had announcements on the forums, so idk why this one didn't get one.

The only small thing I'd improve on the 3 army selection is to be able to assign a control group to them so I can just press 1 or something to select all three. Or maybe just remember from turn to turn that I was moving them as a group. But it's really handy anyway.

Tiger didn't, Ogre did. That's mostly just based on availability and vibes.
Actually, I do wonder if anything serious happened behind the curtains. Because we usually also get dev streams before the Open Beta, but that was also delayed.
It's simply vacation period and we prefer the streams to be continuous instead of bi-weekly.

There's a ton of great changes and a few more that are gonna need some testing to evaluate properly.

I find it interesting that cold got mostly their "Slowed when failing to freeze" replaced with status vulnerability, making an intriguing lighting-ice-synergy.

Though I wonder if that is a blanket change to the effect (Ice coffin still slows when not freezing); because I do think with these blanket changes there are some cases where exceptions are warranted. In this case I would vote for the white witch and frost dragon to keep the slowing.

Also the Pillar summons finally getting a much needed buff after the summon turn limit (which I think they could have been excepted from with the old values).
