I know it's a stupid question but I'm new to the game, and surprisingly I couldn't find the answer in the manual.

I need an explorer to explore the new world but I can't figure out how to get hold of one.

The manual annoys me btw, it contains a lot of bullshit about historical events but not much on how to actually play the game.

Bullshit ?! Read it, u might learn a few things. Xure, not all game aspects are covered extensively :)D) but bullshit ?? If u consider that to be bullshit why are u even trying to play a historical strategy game ??

Anyway, explorers/conquistadors appear at their historical date, or if random, well at a random date, and some countries do have way more of them than others. Don't expect many as Austria but be ready to be run over by them when starting as Spain.

There is also a littel proggie out there that allows you to make your own leaders and import them into the game.

But why would you want to do that? ;)

Or you could press F12 to open the cheat window and then type 'Event 56' which will give you an explorer. IIRC 'Event 57' is a conquistador if you're interested.

The key point that I see with Explorers and such is that each country is given a different advantage and disadvantage. This allows for different strategies and a great amount of replay value. If every country was a generic power you would have little reason to choose any specific country.
I appreciate the attempt at some historical accuracy while still allowing a player to direct their country to non-historical goals.
