A friend of mine raved about EU, so when EU2 came out, I knew I'd eventually get it.

Well, I did and now I wish I'd waited or not gotten it at all. This is the best broken game I've ever played. It's really got a lot of depth, but with MP broken ... well, it loses a lot. (I'm a MP addict.)

Reading this board, I'm sure the answer is no, but are there any Americans that can host or play a game with 1.03?

As you should know from reading the forums, 1.02 works splendidly in MP. Well, not splendidly, it's slightly unstable, but I can go hours without a crash with my MP partner, and that the game saves frequently and often, and has backup saves, means that each time it does crash we don't tyically lose (i.e., have to repeat) more than 5-7 minutes of gameplay to arrive at and surpass the date of the crash. The fixes in 1.03 are something I look forward to in my future MP games, but 1.02 is certainly enjoyable. Have you tried 1.02 yet? It can still be downloaded.

Thus far, I've only tried 1.02 in SP and it crashed to desktop on one of the Napoleon scenarios. As for MP, with Valkyrie.net down, I haven't been able to try any games.

It seems like an incredible game though - even SP is addicting. But, it's darn hard on a noob - like me. :)

Well in my opinion the bugs in 1.02 aren't that severe. The war exhaustion in 1.03 is pretty fun and all, but the fact that it doesn't work properly in 1.02 doesn't exactly ruin the 1.02 experience for me. The conversion of heretics bug is actually the one I find most annoying. In 1.03, it changes a random province to your state religion. In 1.02, it changes it *from* your state religion, grrr!!! But really, either is realistic and I can deal with both. No matter what the state sanctions in religion, people do tend to go their own way as much as possible.
