Hullo!

In my latest game both Serbia and Novgorod have succesfully rebelled which is nice in a counterfactual kind of way.

But why is Ragusa the capital of Serbia and Karelia the capital of Novgorod?

Is it impossible to control where rebel nations have their capital?

Like with the Dutch revolt the capital is stated in the revolt.txt file to be in Den Hague. Nevertheless it can end up in Flanders, Friesen, Artois or whatever. Usually it'll be Den Hague but not always for some reason.

That sounds pretty weird... I've never seen them having their capitals in the wrong province.

I have encountered the same puzzle. For instance, I added Ferrara as a rebeller with Emilia as the capital and Romagna a possible addition. For some reason, Ferrara rebels with either Province as capital even though Emilia is the one identified in revolt.txt.

It's also funny to see how rebel nations get their state religion from their capital province. So, in the game mentioned above Serbia was Catholic as Ragusa was its capital!!!

Another interesting rebel nation I've seen in a game is the Reformed nation of New Mexico with its capital at Tampico which the Dutch had colonized.

Grenada, of course, often rebels as a Catholic nation.

Novogrod rebelled with thrace as capital and being ortodox for me. Im pretty sure its because i had downloaded byazatise saga but it was quite funny anyway=)
aleppo was the new ottoman capital

Heh, I've seen Hungary re-emerge (after an eerily historical Turkish annexation) as a Protestant nation with their capital in Maros. The new country was Maros, Banat, Transylvania & Magyar, IIRC.

I've also seen Netherlands form with Holland as their capital rather then the Hague (the Hague rebelled as Dutch, it just wasn't the capital). Was kind of cool, actually.
