The EU2 (published by Medallion in best value series) stalled while trying to install it for the first time. The InstallShield Wizard stalled after having loaded about 1/3 of itself. Following error message was given:

Europa Universalis 2

An installation support file
'C:\Docume~1\tuomo\LOCALS~1\Temp\{CA5DD6E1-B508-4922-815D-479E3228B17A}\setup.inx
could not be installed.

Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

I've closed all possible background programmes (messengers etc.), updated my drivers - without success. The latest F-Secure Internet Security 2006 is hard to disable, however. Could that be the cause? It has never interfered in any other installments, though.

Should I just give up and return the game to the shop, or is there a way around this?

Big thanks to you fellas if you know how to work this out.

Run a virus and spyware check.

I'm suffering from the exact same problem and I also have the Medallion Best Value version of the game. I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to do with the setup.inx file that Flori has put up for download. I tried putting it in the folder the error message indicated, but that did nothing, and I still get the same error when the InstallShield Wizard tries to load.

I am not aware of this publication or if Paradox is supporting it.
Let me check upstairs.

From the self help sticky thread.

Scroll to where is talks about the "Scandinavian patch installation problem".
Don't worry about it calling it a patch issue, it applies to installing it as well.

YeaHH!!

You guys know what you're doing. BIG THANKS!

Copying everything to the HD and replacing the setup.inx worked out fabulously. Actually I encountered an error also when copying the setup.inx from the CD, so that could be the one to blame. My old Samsung CD-R/RW burner has so far flawless service record, so I doubt it would be the misfit.

Glad you were able to fix it up.
Happy gaming!
