Installed 1.06 but can't play it

Okay, I had removed EU2 from my computer a little while back because I had some problems with another program and had to reinstall everything. However I stilled followed the forums and was eagerly awaiting version 1.06. So I reinstalled EU2 Then updated withe 1.00 to 1.03 patch and on up through 1.04 and 1.05 to 1.06. The game loads fine but everytime I try to start a scenario the screen blacks out and then it CTDs. I am using the north american version on Windows XP and my computer is well above specs. Has this problem been reported before? I sure hope someone can help me. Cya, bye!

I'd make two immediate suggestions and then if that doesn't work we'll get into specifics.

1. Uninstall what you've done and then simply patch straight from 1.00 to 1.06 as all of the bugfixes/changes made in 1.01-1.05 are included in the 1.06 release. I almost always find the best/safest way to upgrade to the latest version is to patch a fresh install.

2. You might be having some issues (lingering) with the Binkplayer so you may be able to simply rename the avi folder to avi_old and clear up the problem.

Of course it goes without saying that it's worth spending some time making sure that all drivers are 100% current and that all possible Windows updates (critical and recommended) are applied.

If that doesn't solve the problem then I'll need detailed system specs as per the sticky at the top of the forum.
