Okay this is just weird.. I have played the game on computers much less capable than mine and been fine, yet when I installed and tried to play it on mine, this little white box appears in he middle of the screen and the entire system just locks up...

Very strange. If someone could help me I would appreciate it.

have you updated your drivers? if so you need to reinstall directx. also there is a patch available for the game

Uninstall the game, update your video drivers (and directx as the other guy says) , kill any other apps running such as anti-virus, defrag your disk, then reinstall EU and apply the 1.09 patch.

If you still have a problem try running it with the No Music option. If that helps you are probably short of memory and need more.

The "Little white box" is the copy protection doing its stuff.
Is your copy legal?
If so and you have a CD Writer or a DVD drive as your first CD drive letter then I suggest that you reconfigure your machine so that your standard CD drive is the first drive letter.

Oh I'm very sure it's legal. My wallet told me better than I can. And which patch should I get.. I have the english Blackstar version 1.07b...

btw I defragged and updated the directx and it works fine.. now it just crashes like crazy

If you have the Blackstar version then you need the Benelux 1.09 patch.

I just bought the game and i'm having the same problem.

- 300 MHz intel pentium II processor
- 64MB SyncDRAM
- 8.0 GB Hard drive
- 24 Max-10X min CD-rom
- 512KB L2 Pipeline Burst Cache

I'm pretty sure my computer fits the system requirements, except for
one thing though.

- 4MB SyncGraphics Memory

The game says I need a 2MB graphic memory, but intead I have 4MB syncgraphics Memory, I thought I just had more so bought the game anyway.

Maybe I just need to update the game version...since I've already updated my DirectX to 8.0 from the Game CD. I'll try to defrag it too.

Defrag - after uninstalling.
Reinstall.
Apply the 1.09 patch
go to "start", "Programs", "Paradox entertainment" and run it from the "No Music" Icon.
Make sure that there are no programs running in the background. Use Ctrl+Alt+Delete and stop all but "Explorer" and "Systray".
Make sure your screen saver and anti virus is disabled and that you have no Desktop Themes running.
