It's actually not, he had alt history ideas, but this is just a slightly inaccurate representation of a map. I think it's fine / close enough. It's a forum game, he had to condense some stuff for gameplay over accuracy.
Thats where you are mistaken tristan. This makes it a alt history as is not the real history map. Now there are other elements of alt history as diferent families ruling land they didnt and so on. So yes by definition ia an alt history game. Not saying that is bad or anything but it is something iron should make clear to people, its part of the so called gm culture.
Fairly certain this is filled with gross misinterpretations of everything. Scotland certainly did not have the Orkney or Shetland Isles. The Holy Roman Emperor certainly did not "inherit" lands upon his coronation. What is going on here?
First of all, I never called it a historical game. I mentioned History once-"Sands of History". By that logic that's like saving Civ V claims it is historical, because it mentions the word historical. I called it a Medieval game. Did both Medieval II Total War and Crusaders King II have to put fictional in the title? I'll add it to the OP, but not the title.

In the spirit of alternative history I will claim the ahistorically unified Irish. The question is, O'Brian High King or O'Neill? Or screw them both, and go with my own O'Dea clan?

Well, I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Hapsburg's are free... So your welcome to take them or Poland. It is your choice.
