I think the differentiation at the lower ranks is due to a major influx especially in England and France of explorers and conquistadors and represents some attempt to make one more valuable than another so that any colonel conquistador is subordinate to any general while retaining the attributes of one conq being higher in rank than another. Overall, its just a refinement of the ranking system with only one rank. Make any sense???
When you try to change all *Marshal* to *Chief Judge*, by using the 'change all' function in excel it also changes Field Marshal to Field Chief Judge unintentionally.
