Is Windows XP an MP disaster?

Does anyone know, will the Windows XP OS work with multiplayer?

A group of us tried an mp game with seven players (yea, I know, probably too many people); all of us were using Windows Me or older except one guy with a new computer and Windows XP. The game crashed every single time after just a few minutes. I suggested he drop out, and the game ran relatively ok. We still have other problems (crashes, lock ups, etc.), but this one was glaring.

Any thoughts?

No what? No, it's not a disaster; or no, it won't work with Windows XP; or no, you don't have any thoughts? From the clarity of the reply, I'm leaning toward the last one.

I run XP and my MP friend runs off of 2000, and we don't experience any problems other than the universally popular chat bug and CTD bug, and that's just occasionally.

Haven't tried it with more than 2 people though, so who knows...

I have played in games, where people where using XP. They even hosted and their was no problems. Other then my poor little 56k kicking the bucket every few hours

Thanks for the feedback. I guess we'll have to look for a reason other than the operating system.

I have XP and hosted many MP games whitout having any "unusual" problems...

Yeah, when you host the game seems to run smoother then usuall.
