After looking in the manual a bit, i've come to think how does learning affect rulers at all? it appears child education trait is based purely on the learning of the maester, and the guardian is only responsible for traits.

So my question is.
  1. is there any use at all for learning for the PC?
  2. How exactly do the education traits work? and how do i get my child scholar education?

The education trait is based on the childs learning if im not mistaken. Some events also have extra options for high learning like the valyrian steel chain.

From what I've gathered, higher learning upon reaching adulthood gives you higher traits. Or weights it more. Someone with 20 learning is more likely to get a brilliant strategist trait than misguided warrior for instance. Learning on the maester/healer also increases their effectiveness as boosting childrens base stat as they grow up-but that's not the player character directly.

Learning also affects a few MTTH things, alongside event chains. The valyrian steel sword was mentioned, but chances to hatch a dragon is also affected. Generally, anything that rellies on books/intelligence is benefited from what I can tell. Which unless your just a blunt warrior or such can be a lot of things, and varies from playthrough to playthrough. There is another guide in someones signature that's more extensive than tha manual, and lays out some math too I believe.

Forgot one potentially major specific thing: Learning affects the chance for your dragon to lay an egg. A high learning character could potentially have their dragon lay multiples easily during their lifetime.

I also forgot this wasn't the citadel forum which is where the expanded guide is.
