CK2 will use the same engine as Sengoku, EU3 and V2. Why does the multiple flank combat need to be exclusively for CK2? The argument that the character side of the game is shallow because it concentrates on warfare doesn't really fly when the combat is just as shallow. The fact that they have demonstrated they can make combat better but chose not to include it again makes it feel like Sengoku is CKs poor cousin rather than a game in its own right.

Don't forget that the whole Ck2 combat system is still in a beta version of the game, lot of testing and balancing still needs to be done, and I'm sure lot of changes will be made to it before or even after the release of CK2.
I could see the system come into Sengoku sometimes( maybe as a mod, a patch or an official expansion) but only after CK2 is out.

But why? Why did they choose CK2 as the first game to include the new combat system? They claim this game is more focused on war than CK2 then neglect combat completly... Why didn't they make this new combat system for Sengoku in the first place and just release the game a little later? And from the looks of gameplay videos of the beta the combat system seems to be working fine.

Most likely because Paradox was taking advantage of the [CKII] engine which they decided to make the game on when the project started.

Yes. Without borrowing early parts of the CKII code, we would most likely not have been able to do Sengoku.

CK2 will use the same engine as Sengoku, EU3 and V2.

They all use a lot of different code. The Clausewitz engine they all share is not the same as the entire game code. I.e. the CKII battle system, or characters and dynasties is not part of Clausewitz.

Why does the multiple flank combat need to be exclusively for CK2?

That part of CKII was not ready in time for Sengoku to have been able to use it.

But why? Why did they choose CK2 as the first game to include the new combat system?

Because it was developed by the CKII team for use in CKII.

IMO they should just spend a bit more time adding these things before they release it and charge a regular price.
Why didn't they make this new combat system for Sengoku in the first place and just release the game a little later?

That's not how development works. There are constraints like budgets, deadlines, manpower and release schedules. Developing a completely new battle system for a smaller project like Sengoku just wasn't doable.

Well your the developers and you probably know best, and obviously I don't know what your budgetary and time constraits are. I guess I just have to hope that patches and possibly expansions help make it at least as good a game as CK1 was for me.
