So I have tried playing at a few different random map locations, but the map seems to be the same ones over and over. I think I have seen about 5-6 different maps, regardless of where it is on the planet.

The option to pick any spot on the planet for where to land implies a procedural map generation, but that seems to not be the case.

Can a developer confirm or not?

I can't confirm this, but I have noticed that there are maps with the same overall layout, but with different specific features (different rock formations and the like).

The maps has three "layers":
The major features (highgrouds and craters and such), only a handful of them exist (maybe a dozen in total)
The minor features (rocks and a few other details), randomly generated but has similar structures in the same maps/locations.
Resources (water/anomalies/etc.), fully randomized in each mapgeneration, even in the same location you get a new distribution.
