Hi there !

I searched for similar problems but I didn't find something relevante so I decided to ask for your help here.

I'm running on an old but stable Linux Ubuntu 16.04 under gnome-shell and/or i3.
When I try to launch the game I got an error "segmentation fault (core dumped)".
Missing libraries ?

I'll be very happy if someone can tell me how to resolve this.
Tell me if you need to see some config files or whatever.

Meanwhile, Cities Skylines works fine.

Thanks <3

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

Hello and thank you for your answer.

Unfortunately, I don't have those files neither the folder Paradox in my Documents. I was never able to launch the game so I think that they may never been created.

But, I have the System info from Steam :

Unfortunately, I don't have those files neither the folder Paradox in my Documents.
They really should be there, even if the game can't start fully. Check the pinned thread above with 'file locations' in its title for the correct file path.

Also add in any other files in that logs folder over 0 bytes.

After checking the pinned thread I still not be able to locate those files.
I do not have the folder /home/user/.paradoxinteractive/ neither the one in Documents.

Is it not a clue on the source of my problem ?

In Windows that would mean an antivirus app was getting in the way, but I doubt that is the issue here.

I actually don't recall a single other instance of any PDS game failing to create the user files and folders on Linux.

What file system is the volume that Steam is on, and that presumably the game is installed in?

UPDATE: I see the folder got changed for EU4 and is now
.local/share/Paradox\ Interactive/Europa\ Universalis\ IV/

Perhaps CK2 has changed to that place too?

Steam and CK are installed on the same disk formatted in ext4.

There is no folder called Paradox Interactive in the path .local/share :/

I just bought EU4 to test it and I have the exact same error.. No folders created anywhere. Should I create those folder manually perhaps ?

I'll try on another computer later.

Should I create those folder manually perhaps ?
No. If the game doesn't create them, doing it manually will not fix the underlying problem that is preventing that normal game function from happening.
