@Angelic_ryubick Ah, sorry for not updating this thread, but my particular issue was actually solved. It was in fact the launcher being hard-coded to use the computer's default "Documents" folder no matter what the userdir.txt says.
The solution was to go to the launcher-settings.json (in the same folder you put the userdir.txt) and change the "gameDataPath" to exactly the same thing you put in the userdir.txt.
You ALSO need the userdir.txt pointing to the same folder.
According to various people and basic testing, it only seems to happen when the userdir.txt is pointing to a drive that the computer's default document's directory doesn't exist on.
