I'm looking for an MP game of EUII. I've had EUII since its release but have never played an MP game so am a total Newb! I don't mind who I play even if its taking over from someone in an existing game.

I'm in the UK and ther problem is i'm only available at certain times. It would have to be at night time anywhere between 8pm-4am GMT (not Fridays as I can't guarantee i'm always available Tues and Weds could be a bit iffy i too unless its after 12am).

anythign available that fits in with these times? :wacko:
 
welcome. Only being able to play certain times isnt a problem because games always follow set times anyway. What matters is being able to keep to that scheduleand TURN UP.

My advise is that you join a game rather than start a game because youll find it hard to find players i think because your new.

The best thing to do is offer yourself up as a sub. That way, you can prove your reliability and get some MP experience while getting yourself on the ICQ lists of various players and GMs.

Ok thatnks for the advice! I wasn't sure if most games would be already full up (or if being GMT would be a problem) which is why I posted a new thread. I'll take a look around and make a few enquiries :)
 
Get ICQ as soon as possible as that is the medium for the eu2 mp community. After that its just to start nagging all the GMs on if there are perm spots or occasional opportunities to sub :).

Games ALWAYS need subs.
 
Yea i've had ICQ for years and its just finding a game that fits in with my time which is a problem at the mo as most games seem to run from about 5pm my time. I don't finish work till 6 and don't get home till seven so wouldn't really be available till 8 lol. Weekend game is probably my best bet but the I'm still hoping to find an evening game!
 
Kingdom Stage: Dynasties of the Newbies might be a place where you might want to offer your services as a sub. It is not a veteran game, as the name implies.

Yea that was one of the first ones I looked at unfortuntely the playing time is a problem again. GMT 17:00! I don't get home from work till GMT 19:00 and sometimes a little later so unless I can find a game that runs between GMT 20:00-5am I'm a little screwed (I do tend to stay up till the very early hours).

Thanks for thinking about me though ;)

P.S. First Time I saw MP Stats that's really interesting!

Oh ok thanks. I'll do that. I have you on ICQ. No probs if its a problem though. I'm taking the time to play SP as i'm sure I know nothing compared to MP players. I've had the game since it came out but everytime I read a thread I seem to think "What the hell are they talking about?" lol

I'll message you on Thurs after work then.

MP is indeed a completely different game. But the most important difference is diplomacy. If you're talkative and you play politics well, you'll be dominating in no time.

At any rate, the only way you'll stop being a novice is to play real MP. Might as well be with us. We have a number of experienced players-two of whom have been in the community for years-who'd be happy to show you the ropes.

Another option is The Old World, which plays at seven PM eastern in the states tomorrow night. All old hands there, but that may be too late for you.
 
Yea that sounds great. Its difficult to say if i'm good or not at politics as the only games I've played where you can use these skills are turn based online wargames which isn't quite the same as this so we'll see :)

I'm pretty sure i'll enjoy MP though as i'm always happy to play any country and am certainly no quitter and take defeat as just another experience towards getting it right. I've wanted to play MP for a long time but... well to be honest I didn't fancy getting trounced by a 13 yr old :) Now i've decided i'm too old to care lol (not that 35 is THAT old).

I'll take a look at Old World and see what the time difference is. As I say i'm often up till 5am so as long as the difference isn't too bad I'll post on that thread.

Just checked my time converter and thats about 00:30 which would be good for me (I might be an hour out either way due to the way my converter works but even so 11:30-1:30 is good for me).

Here are the stats for the two games. Get used to these charts, because they're enormously important and quite useful. This should give you some idea of how MP games progress, timings and so forth. And you can download the saves and load them up, see troop dispositions, ongoing wars (there are some in both), investment priorities, how the economies work and so on and so on. And there are partial logs intact, so you can probably pick up some things that way. The key terms are "NAP" and "Could I buy...?" which is usually declined and followed by a DOW. :D

One note, though, The Old World is running on a special Europe-only, randomized scenario, and so is not representative of a typical historical game.

Thanks for that HG I'll try and take a look later but i'm at work now :)
As for being a scenario I don't mind that. Of course I'd need instruction on where to download and how to install....

I'm at work at tho mo but will authorize you when I get home. Only problem might be time difference or the time i'm available. I'm in the UK so on GMT and on weekdays I work till pm and rarely get home before 7pm so relaistically I wouldn't be available till 7:30-8. course if you game works out later I'm usually up until 4-5am.

Anyway we'll have a chat when you're available on ICQ :)

Actually I just checked th link on your sig and see the game is early morning so that would be sweet :D

I know :cool: that's how we are :p .... no, really, we already have a player from Spain and another one from France.. well, I have to say they are my heroes by playing at those hours :D ... well, we'll talk on ICQ :)
