I'm interested in finding a file that shows the details of each system like jump distance, skulls rating, factions present, etc. The goal would be to get a better understanding of the map to plan out a future career game.

Is there such a file? If so, where is it?

There are a number of starmaps available at the wiki but they weren't updated for 1.6 so they don't have the new systems.

I have most of the systems data on a spreadsheet although it isn't totally updated for 1.6.

With jump distance you'll need to avoid these systems until you get all the Argo drive upgrades since they take 14+ days to travel: New Vandenburg, Merope, Claybrooke, Brinton, Burton, Ward, Laconis, Electra, Maia, Drozan, Sax, Rollis, Sacromonte, Pell and Mazdru

If you're looking for the best shops: Dunianshire, Hurik, Merope, New Vandenburg, Ryerson, Victoria and Yuris are all major industrial centers with Research and Star League.

Thanks! So, are you saying that this information needs to be investigated through the game, and there isn't a reference file that's available?

There are 219 star systems in the base game, keeping a file updated with all that info you want is very time consuming, so no such file is available.

Plus, if you use mods there's one called Navigation Computer that allows you to search the game star map for specific factions or planetary tags. The only info that it doesn't give is the travel times, but you just need to learn the ones I listed previously.

Right - I meant, is there a moddable file that shows these details? As in, it's already part of the game. It has to be defined somewhere for the game to use - I'm just not sure if it's in a moddable / readable file or if it's somewhat hidden.

The game uses individual files for each starsystem - there's no single file with all of the info

If you're using Steam: \Steam\steamapps\common\BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\StreamingAssets\data\starsystem

Could your script be adapted to parse the tags in the 'Mech files? That would be a very useful and time-saving tool for a mod I'm currently designing.
