I had to redownload it recently and instead of opening the GOT mod it opens CK2.
I've rolled it back to the proper patch version and don't have any of the incompatible DLC selected and everything. What I think is wrong is that the mac version of the download for some reason comes as a UNIX file as you can see here. I have no idea why. And I have less of a clue as to how to fix it.

I'm unable to play on my mac as well. I have cleared everything in my documents/paradox interactive/crusader kings II/mod folder, reinstalled the game a few times, added a 'A Game of Thrones' folder in the documents/paradox interactive/crusader kings II folder, as instructed by the manual. However, as soon as I open the CK2 launcher and activate the GoT mod (this is the same whether I have other mods or DLCs activated, I've tried deactivating everything else, then a few dlc's and mods that I figure might be incompatible etc and with everything at once) and click play it crashes.. Well, not even that, it never boots up. My screen goes black for a second and then returns to my steam library. CK2 works perfectly fine without the Game of thrones mod, regardless of how many other mods or DLC's I've enabled.

Yes I've backdated it which is exactly what that line in my initial post meant.

And huh mine isn't crashing, it's just opening as CK2 instead of the GOT mod no matter what I do. But I have done all the reinstalling and mod download manual stuff you have ChewChew.

Yep but the number of times people have said yeah I've back dated and they actually haven't is worryingly high

JUST SO EVERYONE IS CLEAR ON MY VERSION:
Honestly past reinstalling ck2 and the mod there is little I can do for you as you are on mac and I am not. Try re-reading the mac installation instructions and hope it works a bit better sorry :/

I had the immediate crash problem (as per ChewChewShoe) but was able to fix it by adjusting the path line in the .mod file. Of course that made it run CKII, but not AGOT. I ran 9.6 a couple of weeks ago before heading off to the cabin for some no-tech-time. Came back and needed to reinstall - now it doesn't work. Game is ok, mod is not.
