macOS Catalina - 'Launching the game failed.'

When I launch the game from steam, the paradox launcher opens and when I press play, a red triangle appears next to the game version. Hovering over the triangle shows error 'Launching the game failed.'

Game worked a few hours ago, not sure what happened.

Have tried verifying integrity of game files, but didn't help.

Any suggestions?

Please attach here the game log
~/Library/⁨Application Support/⁨Prison Architect/debug.txt
To find that file, in Finder do cmd-shift-G to bring up the GOTO box. In there paste ~/Library/⁨Application Support/⁨Prison Architect/ .

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

Have tried starting in safe mode and nothing happens. Have also restarted and reinstalled, but still no luck.

That log stops after only one line, which is even before the game begins to initialise. So it's hard to see what could cause that, especially as the game has run okay previously.

On my Mac the next few lines are:

Steam Breakpad Build Id: 10200
Loading Preferences from /Users/*/Library/Application Support/Prison Architect/preferences.txt
BEGIN DataRegistry DUMP:

A Steam Verify definitely finds nothing to fix?


If not let's try a clean reinstall:

- uninstall PA from Steam

Delete the following folders if still present:
- Steam/SteamApps/common/Prison Architect/

- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Introversion/Prison Architect/
(keep any valued save games, of course)

- ⁨~/Library/⁨Application Support⁩/Paradox Interactive⁩/
To find that file, in Finder do cmd-shift-G to bring up the GOTO box. In there paste ~/Library/ .

- ⁨~/Library/⁨Application Support⁩/Prison Architect⁩⁩/
(except any valued save games in the /saves/ folder of course/

Now install PA again and see how that goes please!
