It will just have the same effect as egg laying and Nascant Stage: By creating a trait that should be a basic characteristic of an archetype, you're saying: Hey, species without egg laying don't lay eggs!
And then you look at all of the bird-portraits and realize they give birth to live cubs or whatever their offspring is named because you didn't pick egg-laying.
Looking at the animal kingdom, maybe "egg laying" should be the assumption and "Egg Shells" should be the trait. Most animals lay eggs, birds and reptiles are more unique in that their eggs are covered in a tough calcified or leathery exterior that protects the embryo from hazards. Most eggs are gooey little jelly blobs.

Given the theming around extra pop-growth from excess food production, I’d probably have gone with “catches clutches” or something to that effect. The trait doesn’t mean the species lays eggs, it means they lay large clutches (like sea turtles and crocodiles) where only a few of the young survive in the wild but in a technologically advanced society, most if not all do, assuming excess resources.

You know I'm thinking it.

Normally you’d be sent to the lathe to represent your species but for this thought crime, it’s straight to the thrall world for you
