Hi is there a map editor for CK DV?

I'm trying to continue Crovax's ASoIaF mod and the map is the first thing I want to do :)

OT question - is the mod DV compatible?

Someone edited the map of Wales and Ireland for Veld's Before the Conquest mod, but I don't think there is an editor program, no.

Egypt needs to be fixed up pretty badly: everything's in the wrong place.

edit: I stand corrected. :eek:o

you have to edit one thing and you can play in DV...
look in the mod thread.

But I'll try to add more stuff like CoA a new map and more chars :)
Crovax did already so much that I don't have to start from 0.

Yes there is a map-editor

You can find the map editor here

Oh BTW the_hdk, please edit your signature. The maximum number of lines within a signature is 10 (including blanks) I count 15 lines in yours.

Tnx for the link.... :)

15? I count 10  how is that possible? and I don't have any blanks as I used the "---" for that :)

edit: I made it smaller... I deleted a few things I count 9 lines now.

So are there any good map modders for ck out there.....
willing to help out with the mod? :)

that tool seems freaking hard and confusing to use... <cry>

The only one who has been able to get it to work has been Kurek who has been working on a British Isles Map Mod

Jordarkelf has also been working on a mapmod, but doing it isn't 'easy'.

If you just want to edit the existing map a bit, it's "easy", as long as you have some graphic skills and a good tool. You will need to merge some provinces to free up IDs for other ones: seazones at the edge of the map and lakes are obvious choices. Then use the colour of the province you freed up in the new province.

Making a new map from scratch is much harder, as you will need to draw everything from the borders to the province colours (take these from the original map with the colour picker), but gives more freedom in the end as you're not bound to Paradoxian provinces. Of course without some graphic skills the map will look bland though.

Wait a minute... YOU CAN GET RID OF THOSE #$@!#! LAKES???

DO IT!!! DO IT NOW! (please)

Starting with a map made by I Killed Kenny (you can look at this thread), I edited the .bmp files to make it playable, it has 122 provinces but I never found the time to finish the scenario :(.

Jordarkelf is right that without some graphic skills the map looks bland, that can be a fitting description for my map. Though I can say doing borders is not that difficult (In my map they are bad because I did them at the beginning while I think it should be done last), however finding the pixels which are not of the right colours i the ProvId file can be troublesome.

You can look at this post to find the download links (the files are too heavy for mail). The provinces defined by I Killed Kenny are different from those you have. To give you an idea of what it looks like I will show two screenshots:

I do not remember if I put the right province.csv file in the rar folder. In the map editor package, there is a program called object editor that allows to place ports, CoAs, and armies, with it you can edit the province.csv file which is in the db folder.

With the right file you will have nearly what I showed, you would also need to edit the province_names.csv file in the config folder.

EDIT: I sent you the files I have edited.
