Right, first off i bought hearts of iron anthology and installed all 4 games.

All games were great :) though hearts of iron 1 was a bit dated so i moved onto HoI 2.

That worked fine, then it started to crash for no reason what so ever on a 1 week old gaming desktop with fully up to date drivers and everything.

I went on the net and fou8nd that renaming the avi folder and music folder to disable them might solve the problem. Doing that solved it for a day or 2 then it started to crash again but on all the expasions as well.

I got all the patches and sifted through forums but to no avail the probs kept coming. I did the repair option on all the games and that sorted it for an hour or so.

I decided to fully uninstall the games to get rid of any corrupted file that might be in there.

Guess what...

the uninstaller wouldnt work now. It kept on coming up with a catastrophic failure message every time i tried to uninstall it.

I tried add/remove programs but that didnt work.

I tried personally deleting the folders and any file i could find.

that STILL didnt do it now i'm in a serious f**k up and i would like some advice on how, once i sort out the uninstall prob by using some specialist software i got to fix my comp, i should deal with the crash bugs.

I dont use mods (usually becasue i dont know were to put them) and i only modified the names of 2 folders, also the games wont reinstall.

please help me

EDIT: I'm using vista, if that helps. I think it might have something to do with the crashes but i'm not sure.

First you might check this thread. It requires editing the register but it is a pretty good guide, I had never done it before and felt very comfortable doing it following these steps.

How to manually uninstall HOI2

I would also run CCleaner, it is a free program that removes unused files from your system.

http://www.ccleaner.com

After you get the games off of your PC try installing them again, but do not put them in the default Program Files folder. Vista is very protective of this folder and likes to do weird things to files that you put in there yourself. I would create a C:\Games (or similar) folder and put all of your games in there. Just make sure you remember that so you can change the path of any patches or mods later.

Once the games are installed the first thing to do is to rename the avi folder, which you should so with every Paradox game. The only patch you will need is the 1.2 patch for Armageddon. Every other game int he Anthology is the most recent version.

If this doesn't fix it post here again and one of the more tech savvy members will have to help you.

it still says 'repair' and 'remove'.

should i have tried remove?

what do i do? :(

EDIT: i tried CCleaner and i followed the manual uninstall thread.

P.S: you should rename the avi folder for all paradox games? i've never had trouble with any paradox game except these hearts of iron games. Strange it should start now.

If you have any problems it's usually one of the first things suggested.
Problem seems to be that the player they use doesn't unload itself completely after playing the video. Or it could just be a matter of the player loading causing the game code to load at a different address which can sometimes be a problem.
